2017: Wheeler despite suffering a leg injury in the second half of the season still recorded 16 games kicking 24 goals in those games including a bag of five in round 12. Wheeler continues to provide versatility to the Lions both up forward and with pinch hit stints in the ruck. Wheeler performed well in the 2017 WAFL Grand Final with two goals among 10 possessions and five hitouts. Wheeler was a part of the history making WA side that defeated Victoria during May.
2016: Wheeler played his 200th WAFL game in Round 3 vs West Perth.
The athletic tall played 21 games including the WAFL Grand Final and finished 2nd in the Outridge Medal for Subiaco's fairest & best.
